NANOG Communications Committee - North American Network Operators Group





The NANOG Communications Committee (CC) is made up of NANOG community members appointed by the Steering Committee. You can reach the committee at .

Committee Members
Randy Epstein, WV Fiber Randy Epstein is a 21 year veteran of the industry. He is President of WV Fiber, a multi-national transit and transport provider as well as the Co-Founder and CIO of Host.net, an Inc.500 provider of enterprise/government Internet transit, transport, managed security and colocation services. Mr. Epstein serves on the Board of Directors of OCCAID, an IPv6 research and development network deployed globally to assist researchers and Internet service providers in their transition to next-generation IPv6 technology. Mr. Epstein has taken a keen interest in peering strategy and negotiation.

Term ends October 2010.

Kris Foster, BitGravity Kris Foster is currently at BitGravity. He previously served as a network planner at Rogers Cable, acting as peering coordinator and performing engineering on their IP backbone. Previously Kris worked in the office of the CTO at Telus where he was responsible for peering and transit engineering. He is currently completing joint Bachelor Degrees in Mathematics and Philosophy at the University of Calgary.

Term ends October 2011.

Sue Joiner, Merit Network Sue Joiner, the owner of the NANOG list since 1998 and is the voting Merit representative. She has been providing network and A/V support at NANOG meetings since NANOG 18, and has been a member of Merit's system administration group since 1996. In the latter role, Sue handles Usenet news and the MichNet Squid cache in addition to her postmaster duties. Prior to joining the Merit sysadmins, Sue supported the NSFNET Regional-Techs meetings that preceded NANOG in the early 90's, and served as business manager for Merit's CONDUIT project, strengthening ties between Michigan's small businesses and community colleges. She holds an Associate's Degree in Accounting from Schoolcraft College.

Michael K. Smith, Adhost

CC Chair
Michael is the CTO of Adhost Internet - a Seattle-based provider of colocation, hosting and managed services. He also serves as a technical advisor to the Seattle Internet Exchange (SIX), and is a SANS Mentor. He has previously held senior network engineering positions at NoaNet, Semaphore Corporation and Northwest Link.

Term ends October 2011

Tim Yocum, Server Central Network Tim Yocum is a director at Server Central Network where he oversees systems engineering and operations staff. He has over 10 years of experience in systems design, implementation, and security. Prior to Server Central he has held a number of senior technical positions at large corporations including Playboy Enterprises as well as network engineering positions at service providers Verio and WorldWide Access. He has been attending NANOG meetings both in-person and online since 1998.
