Meet Esu

What is a surprising fact about you? Most engineers think in pictures. However, I think majorly in words.

Why did you apply for the NANOG scholarship? I applied for the NANOG scholarship to obtain financial support towards earning my electrical engineering degree.

Where are you from? I was born in Nigeria (Benin City, Edo). My family relocated and now lives in Houston, Texas.

What will you accomplish through the NANOG scholarship? I will apply the NANOG scholarship to paying part of my tuition, fees, and housing for the upcoming school year. Through this scholarship, I will acquire my electrical engineering degree without any financial tension.

What is a surprising fact about you? I live life one day at a time.

Where are you from? Gainesville, FL

Why did you apply for the NANOG scholarship? The NANOG scholarship represented an opportunity to further my education. The scholarship will help me afford most of my college expenses.

What will you accomplish through the NANOG scholarship? The scholarship will help me complete my Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science. I will apply the funds to tuition, room, and meal plan.

Meet Wendy

What is a surprising fact about you? I can almost do an aerial (no-handed cartwheel)!

Where are you from? I am from Chicago, Illinois.

Why did you apply for the NANOG scholarship? I applied for the NANOG scholarship in hopes of paying off my hefty college tuition and boarding costs. Throughout my freshman year, I struggled to complete my computer science curriculum with my current laptop, but I did not have the funds to replace my device. With the help from this scholarship, I am now able to continue my studies with less worries on my mind. Thank you NANOG!

What will you accomplish through the NANOG scholarship? Through the NANOG scholarship, I hope to be able to purchase a new computer to continue my computer science education smoothly without fear of my device failing on me. I plan to use the remaining money towards my tuition costs, as this scholarship would lighten that burden and provide me more freedom in choosing internships. Unpaid internships are a great opportunity to apply the knowledge I gained from academia in real world applications, while also being able to gain relevant work experience without having to worry about paying off my tuition. With a new computer and less financial burden, I will be able to comfortably continue my exploration of the vast field of computer science and test my creations with my ever-expanding knowledge of coding.

Meet Juan

What is a surprising fact about you? An interesting fact about me is that I have an identical twin brother.

Where are you from? I am from Atlanta, Georgia.

Why did you apply for the NANOG Scholarship? The reason I applied for this scholarship is because I had a large amount of school expenses for the year, so I wanted to find any generous scholarships that could help me with my schooling. I saw that the scholarship wanted students in computer science, so I thought I would have a good chance at winning with my credentials.

What will you accomplish through the NANOG scholarship? I will try to do well in school and get good grades to eventually apply to graduate school. Now, that I have a source of money to pay for my school fees, I do not have to work during the school year. With this extra time, I want to focus on finding an internship and want to improve my interviewing skills. The scholarship will be used to buy school supplies necessary for the year and also fees that the school has for all students.
